Phoenix Air Services formed a company called Express Airways which was dba Republic Express out of Memphis. The airline started another hub in Minneapolis-St. Paul and when Republic Airlines merged with Northwest Airlines in 1986, the airline changed its name to Northwest Airlines Express/Airlink until Northwest merged with Delta Airlines. The insignia was the same design however the maroon enamel was changed to a very dark brown enamel.
